Come and join us as we head outdoors this winter for some good old fashioned childhood adventuring!

Fit Kids Holiday Activities

All of our holiday adventures are run by Simon, who has tons of experience in making sure groups of excited children have an amazing time whilst staying safe and respecting the rules of the adventure.


Holiday Adventures Details

  • Adventures are 3 hours long, and the cost is R80 per child per adventure.

  • Some adventures are held in the morning, some in the afternoon – please see the schedule below.

  • Please read about each activity lower down on this page to determine its suitability for your child.

  • Pre-booking and payment is essential – you can do this by completing the form at the bottom of this page.

  • Adventures will only go ahead once a minimum of 8 children have booked.

  • If an adventure is listed as fully booked on the schedule below, please email leeanne@fitkids-sa.co.za to be waitlisted.

  • All adventures are weather dependent, so are subject to change if conditions will make an outing risky or too unpleasant.

About Each Holiday Adventure

 

Hiking Adventures

HikingFor children aged about 6+.  We walk in stretches of 30- to 40-minutes, with 10 minute breaks in-between.
A educational adventure mainly for primary school age children, depending on ability.  We’ll take a walk, chat about the local mountains, plants and animals, and stop for a snack and possibly a game if the environment and time allows (The Silvermine and Deer Park hikes are great for this).  We’ll also help each other stay together as a group, learn a bit about being a responsible member of the group, and leave the adventure with vital knowledge about safe hiking practices.
What to bring: Sunscreen, hat, warm jacket, walking shoes, healthy snacks and water bottle.

Hand-line Fishing Adventures

IMG-20141006-02532Aimed at pre-schoolers up to about grade 1s – not for children older than about 7.
There’s lots of fun to be had scrambling over rocks trying to catch as many Klipvis as you can with a handline!  Learn the basics of fishing including tying knots, finding and preparing bait, using hand-lines, the types of fish to be caught, and a basic fishing expedition off the Fish Hoek Jaggers Walk.  Beach and sea safety are a priority, as well as learning about conserving the natural environment where we’re spending our morning.

What to bring: Sunscreen, hat, windbreaker, shoes that can get wet, towel, healthy snacks and water bottle.

Rocky Shore Adventures

rocky shoreMost popular with ages 6 to 10.  Pre-schoolers may find the games hard work.
A treasure hunt of rocky shore life – exploring the rock pools and seeing what we can find and learn about.   Beach races and sand-castle building competitions make this an all-round exciting morning!
What to bring: Sunscreen, hat, windbreaker, swimming costume, shoes that can get wet, towel, healthy snacks and water bottle.
Where to meet: Kalk Bay/Dalebrook parking lot (park opposite the Holy Trinity Church – enter opposite the Shark Centre)

 


 

Beach Adventure Racing & Orienteering

Fit KidsAimed at primary school age children, Grade 1 to 6.  Bring your friends as we team up to explore in supervised groups, working together to find landmarks, collect clues and complete tasks.
What to bring: Sunscreen, hat, windbreaker, swimming costume, shoes that can get wet, towel, healthy snacks and water bottle.
Where to meet: Fish Hoek Beach parking lot.

 


 

Line Fishing Adventures

Fit KidsBest for ages 8 to 12 years.  6 and 7 year olds by arrangement.  No under 6s please!
Fish with real fishermen off the Kalk Bay harbour.  Learn about bait types & lures, different types of fishing rods rigging and tackle, knots, casting, spinning and more.
What to bring: Sunscreen, hat, windbreaker, shoes that can get wet, two towels, healthy snacks and water bottle.
