Making my first video tutorial

I made my first video tutorial!

At first it was really fun and super easy.  Everyone was having fun, talking through the steps was easy, I had loads to say… then the camera ran out of space and I found out I’d rabbited on for about 6 minutes.  Which is not what I wanted to subject you all to!

So we did another take.  This time it took about 2 minutes, but a dog kept barking so we axed that one.

Take 3 a noisy plane flew over.

Take 4, 5 and 6 took some convincing to get my 4 year old assistant to co-operate.

I was ready to give up for the day.  But I really wanted to tick this video off my to do list!  Quick team talk and just one more time…. And this is the spectacular result!

You know I’m all about learning.  So here’s what I learnt.

  1. Done is better than perfect.
  2. A whole lot of stuff about lighting and backgrounds and using 4 year old assistants.
  3. I’ve got my worst ever video out of the way.  They can only get better from here.

About Simon

I'm a dad, a teacher and a business owner, doing my best to make every day count. I'm determined to shape the way the next generation feel about exercise, and I'm doing this by showing children the difference between enjoying exercise as part of healthy lifestyle, and participating in exercise as a means to perform in sport. I'm also helping parents learn how to include exercise as a normal part of daily life, and working with schools and teachers to change the way they present exercise to children in the foundation years.
