I’ve been running my really popular Holiday Adventures for a couple of holidays now, and it’s really highlighted the need for a programme for older boys and girls to do something a bit more challenging.
Looking around at the other holiday programmes on offer, there’s so much going on in the way of crafts and activities for littlies, but the older guys don’t have much to call their own. This is such a shame because holidays are such a great opportunity to learn a new skill, make some new friends, get out of your comfort zone and potentially even develop some leadership skills and a sense of social responsibility.
This holiday I’m going to try something new. A line fishing afternoon off the Kalk Bay harbour. Obviously the environment itself means the children participating need to be a bit more mature and responsible, and I’m a huge fan of putting kids, especially tweens, in that kind position to show that we trust them to keep themselves in check and make good decisions.
If your keen fisherman is free on Tuesday 7th April between 3pm and 5:30pm, come and join me to learn about bait types & lures, rigging, knots, casting, spinning and more, and hopefully catch something for mom to cook!
